A strong core is essential for daily living. From sitting and standing to picking up heavy objects, your core muscles are always at work. That’s why it’s important to keep them strong and healthy. The good news is, you don’t need a gym membership or fancy equipment to strengthen these muscle groups. In fact, these eight standing core exercises can be done anywhere, anytime. All you need is a 5 pound dumbbell or anything you can comfortably hold in your hand such as a bottle of water, canned vegetable, etc. If you’re not used to regular exercise, be sure to take is slow and don't push yourself beyond your limits.
If you're an IHCRC patient and you need a little help getting started, ask your doctor for an exercise referral or visit our fitness page to RSVP for a one-on-one exercise class at the link below.
