Parents and guardians want what is best for their child’s education, and sometimes, that involves specialized programs that address their student’s specific needs. “Understanding the Differences: IEPs and 504s” is a class that is free and open to the public. IHCRC 550’s Middle Conference Room will host two daily sessions on two dates:

  • 9-10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5
  • 4-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5
  • 9-10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7
  • 4-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7

IHCRC Youth Support Staff will host Oklahoma Parent Center Educators in a discussion about the history of U.S. disability laws and discuss two common plans for helping students with school. This will especially focus on the differences and similarities of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA). It will also help parents understand 504s and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and if either would help their child.
