Summer is here, and community celebrations, powwows, and family trips are in full swing! Summer brings rest, relaxation and fun, but it also comes with increased risks of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and injuries. It’s important that we follow summer safety tips, and prepare ourselves and family for the heat.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Stay hydrated – Drink plenty of water, especially if you are in the sun
- Wear sunscreen – Don’t forget to reapply at least every two hours
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, such as
- Dizziness
- Thirst
- Heavy sweating
- Nausea
- Feeling weak
- Take regular breaks in the AC, if possible – or find some shade to get out of the sun
Let’s stay safe this summer, and make some great memories with our family and friends!
