What Can I Eat? is a series of 4 classes that focus on making healthy choices for American Indians and Alaska Natives. This nutrition education program is for adults who want to manage their weight, improve blood pressure and cholesterol, lower risk of developing diabetes or those who have diabetes. The goal of this program is to help Native people learn about healthy eating and develop long-term habits to live a healthier life. This program includes 4 classes with topics on healthy nutrition, physical activity, and practicing mindfulness. The 4 classes will take place every 3-4 weeks and be completed within 3 months. If you need to miss a class in the series, you will have the opportunity to make a class up later in the year when the next 4-class series is scheduled.

In each class, participants will:

  • Learn healthy eating skills through facilitator-led lessons
  • Participate in group discussions
  • Engage in hands-on activities
  • Practice physical activity
  • Learn a mindful nutrition choice activity
